In China

In China, Cordyceps refers to the complex of a ghost moth and a fruiting body of Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis) formed after the fungus infects the ghost moth’s larva.
In recent years, Cordyceps has decreased drastically as a result of overcollection due to its preciousness, which has led to higher prices.

In Japan

On the other hand, Cordyceps in Japan is a generl term for mushrooms that grow parasitically on insects, etc., and it is said that there are about 400 species of Cordyceps in Japan alone.

Cordyceps militaris attracting attention

In recent years, Cordyceps militaris has been the most notable of all cordyceps. It belongs to the same genus as the Cordyceps sinensis in China.

A fungus is made up of a fruiting body and a mycelium

Shiitake mushrooms and enokidake mushrooms are common foodstuffs. Their edible parts are called “umbrella” or “handle”. In fact, those parts are “fruiting bodies“, an organ that makes spores.
On the other hand, the “mycelium” is the root part of a mushroom and is made up of countless hyphae extending from spore cells and coming together.
Both a “fruit body” and a “mycelium” are parts of a mushroom, but they contain different components.

We value the authenticity of Cordyceps all the more because it is rare

Many of the Cordyceps products marketed in Japan are only the root part of the mycelium cultivated in tanks (Cordyceps mycelium) or Cordyceps cultivated on cereals.
The original Cordyceps that grow in the natural world are mushrooms grown on insects, which is what we are seeking to produce.

Peculiar Component
Contains Cordycepin

Our Cordyceps militaris,
grown on culture media made from silkworm pupae,
contains the peculiar component Cordycepin.

Cordycepin, a component peculiar to Cordyceps militaris, has been found by researchers to be useful for maintaining good health.
The research results have been published in professional journals.

What is Cordycepin?

Cordycepin AdenosineIt was discovered by K.G. Cunningham in 1951. A crystalline compound was detected in the culture solution of Cordyceps militaris and named Cordycepin. The peculiar component Cordycepin is attracting the most attention of all components of Cordyceps.
The reason for the attention is that Cordycepin has been found by researchers to help the maintenance of health once absorbed into the human body, due to its chemical structure similar to that of adenosine, one of the components that make up nucleic acids of DNA and RNA.
